Where can you fill your prescriptions and get good service?

These days there are so many big box store pharmacies, chain store pharmacies, online pharmacies, and literally a Calgary pharmacy in every medical center. You could pick up your pills and medical supplies at dozens and dozens of places in town, but they definitely are not all the same. I have used a couple of different retail drugstores, even used the pharmacy in Superstore and Walmart before, but have now taken most of my RX business to Script Pharmacy. Let me tell you why this is my new choice for any prescribed medications that I might need.

This little drugstore is located right on Macleod Trail, on the mainfloor of the “Center 70” building. You might notice it on the West side of the road as you drive South from Chinook Mall about 2 blocks. Due to the prime location, there isn’t a ton of parking in the parking lot but at least the store does have several of its own designated parking spots right out in front of the entrance to the drugstore. This makes it one of the quickest places you can go to get in and out with your purchases, especially compared to using the Calgary pharmacy in a big place like Costco, Walmart, or even one of the many Shoppers Drug Mart locations.

I still shop for over the counter medicines and health products at the large retailers when they are priced well and it is not an urgent purchase, but in cases of prescription drugs and when I don’t want to deal with the parking, walking, and waiting for half an hour, those big stores are just not the best choice. A small drugstore like Script seems to provide much easier and personalized service, which I know for many is pretty important when it comes to their health.

Vitamins and Health Products

Inside the store they have a few aisles of mixed items, with a focus on vitamins and over the counter health items. lotions and potions as I call them. The entire place is clean and organized and from what I could see the prices seemed decent. No mask was required, but they did still have plexiglass barriers at the counter and there was a sanitizer station right at the entrance to the store for those who feel more comfortable with that precaution.

I was only there to fill a prescription because it is one of the few Calgary pharmacy stores that is a ‘compounding pharmacy’ rather than just a pill dispensary, so they can make customized compounds and medicines. Depending on your medical needs, you too might need a compounding pharmacist and there are not that many of them to choose from in Calgary.

I phoned in to the store before I left my house and asked them to get my prescription ready. This gave them time to get my order filled, submit and sort out the drug plan coverage that I have and get it all ready for pick up before I drove over there. I recommend this as the way to go about filing your prescriptions too, always phone in before you go so you can eliminate the waiting around.

When I arrived, I parked right in front of the door, walked straight to the counter, they verified my name and order, checked my drug coverage on their computer and sent me in my way within 2 minutes. Quick service and painless as the process could ever be at any Calgary pharmacy.

I don’t live very close to this store but I was very happy with the service and the fact that there wasn’t any upcharges or additional dispensing fees collected over and above my drug plan coverage. The staff was friendly, they asked if I needed anything else, and wasted no time in getting me in and out of there. I recommend Script Pharmacy for anyone looking for a reliable and friendly Calgary drugstore.
