where can you get the best pizza in Banff?
The best Banff pizza comes from Aardvark Pizza and Subs. They beat every other restaurant in the National Park at providing the highest quality food and at a price that is far less than any of their competitors. I was looking for a place to have lunch this Sunday when we were mountain biking in Banff up to Lake Louise but didn’t want to stop at any of the franchise places or one of the tourist trap places on mainstreet. I was heading down a side street that I had never been on before and came across this place. A customer who was sitting outside on a picnic table waiting for his family, without coaxing, jumps up and tells me I should try it because it’s the best food in town. He was so enthusiastic about it being that good, that’s the only reason I chose this restaurant instead of walking farther. Not too many restaurants create that sort of raving fans so I tended to believe the guy.
As I mentioned, the location of this Banff pizza shop is a bit challenging to find if you didn’t know where it was located and weren’t looking for it. It’s not on the main street but just off one of the side avenues (caribou I think it is called, because its by caribou corner) and about 50 feet to the south. I noticed that they do also offer delivery if you are staying in Banff and just want your food delivered to your Banff hotel room or hostel then you don’t have to settle for one of the crappy national pizza chain stores generic slices.
Banff Pizza
The word pizza is in their name but they do serve other foods too, so it’s maybe not accurate that I call it a Banff pizza shop since it is actually much more than just that. I took a picture of their menu on the wall as well as their laminated menu which shows the variety of foods they offer and the prices. In my opinion these prices cannot be beaten anywhere in town. It’s cheaper than McDonald’s or any of the franchise pizza chain shops that are around the townsite. Prices are very reasonable and maybe also the best in Banff.
I ended up ordering an Assorted Sub and a coke, which combined with my partners meal came to a total of under $25. That’s very affordable restaurant food for being in the National Park, most other places that is the cost of a single meal, so I was very pleasantly surprised. Not to mention that it was very fresh and delicious.
This fresh made sub and coke for about $12, cheapest meal in Banff.
I don’t have the address or phone number to recommend but you might be able to see it in my pictures or else Google is your friend. Either way I am happy to recommend that little place because it was such a good deal and I like supporting small businesses. If you’re in Banff, definitely check out Aardvark Pizza and Sub.
