Was downtown last night attending a social event at Greta Bar YYC Arcade and Pub, when upon leaving had a view of the Calgary Tower which I hadn’t happen to have had before. Being near the base of the tower combined with the evening lighting made for a unique image. As we headed off down 10th Ave going West (past the alley where Noble Pie is located), I looked back and got this pic.
The downtown Calgary community is home to so many cool new venues, calgary nightclubs, brand new residential developments, and trendy stores. This is the reason that the beltline neighborhood just south of downtown attracts so many young people who want to live proximate to these many services.
Downtown Calgary
The entire 17th Avenue is a great experience in creative food, drinks, and shopping. Sometimes called the red mile due to the surge in hockey fans during the playoffs this trendy street is exciting year round.
Blowers and Grafton is a trendy East Coast inspired pub featuring Halifax style food and drinks and definitely catering to anyone who misses the Maritimes. Located just off 17th Avenue, it’s close enough to the busy street and the nearby college campus to attract the same trendy crowd.
As I explore the city I will share more images of the scenes that I encounter.
King Calgary: I am a living in Calgary, enjoying exploring and experiencing the city and sharing it with others through words, photos, and videos. I like to write about the places I visit, the venues and businesses I go to, and the things that give Calgary its own unique character. With your support and suggestions I will continue to document cool things in the YYC area. Please help a local guy out by hitting the like or share button on any content you enjoy.
