New Discovery Ridge is a subdivision located in the very Western corner of SW Calgary. The upscale development is located south of Highway 8, which is now being joined to the Metis Trail Calgary Ring Road (also called the #201) and right upon the banks of the beautiful Elbow River.
There are no neighboring subdivisions to Discovery Ridge, as the land across the river to the south is all part of the Tsuut’ina Reservation. The result is thousands of acres is untouched forest, river valley, and environmental paradise.
Griffith Woods
Discovery Ridge Wildlife
The Griffith woods area is a forested section of land that runs along the Elbow River. It contains winding paths, some paved for biking, most covered with mulch or left in their natural condition. Residents of the area can often be found walking, running, or biking through these beautiful woods, some even soak in the ponds or float the river. As well, it’s not uncommon to see beavers, deer, or other wildlife here. Occasionally moose, bear, and cougars have been spotted.
The neighborhood has a lot of recreational activities available. A full outdoor skating rink, pickleball courts, full size tennis courts and a couple of soccer fields. You don’t have to drive to the best bar in Calgary to have fun.
